The Sashya Shilpa Abhiyan, a sustainable livelihood program, initiated by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Vedanta, has been adopted in the Lanjigarh area of Kalahandi district, to increase agricultural productivity of the farmers resulting in enhancement in their quality of life. This program includes training of farmers in commercially viable & sustainable agriculture, organic farming, irrigation management by diverting streams or by using the water lifting procedure and use of integrated pest management methods. Material help in terms of seed, bio-fertilizers, & pesticides are also provided.
Today thanks to the Sashya Shilpa Abhiyan program, the farmers in Lanjigarh have increased their household income by 200 percent. This is proof of the fact that agriculture & industry can mutually complement each other to promote integrated growth of the society as a whole.

It is a matter of ecstasy that Vedanta is doing this noble job to help the local women in order to make them self-dependent economically. This will also create new opportunities for small scale industries.

Being a part of the Vedanta Family, I would like to mirror the above opinions. I have been involved with CSR activities of the company and have come to realize the benifits local ppl get from company activities. I have also encountered misguided local villagers who are misled by certain ppl for their own personal benifits.Great step taken from the company’s side.
