  • are conservatives doing the right thing bashing unions?

Posted by admin on February 28th, 2010 and filed under livelihoods | 13 Comments »

I, an many others are very conservative, however, republicans and conservatives are constantly bashing and demonizing unions. For this reason, I cannot vote against my economic interests and vote my heart, because in the end we end up putting our jobs and livelihoods at risk. For this reason a lot of votes are left out because of this demonizing of unions. Why?What would be a better strategy?

Those horrible Unions that literally FOUGHT and DIED for 40 hour work weeks, pensions, health care, child labor laws….. Made up of hard working American citizens. Yep, the GOP is definitely the Party of Freedom, for the wealthy.
By the way, those at the top of the Unions are ELECTED from the membership, by the members..

Considering the state of our nation, I would have thought that they could spend their time doing more constructive things…but alas, no.

No. Unions aren’t bad. Ask yourself why do corporations hate them so much? It’s because they fight for a piece of the pie and fairness and respect for their workers.
It’s not a coincidence that the highest percent of workers in unions coincided with the greatest economic times for the middle class, and inversely their lowest membership is when the middle class lives in poverty.

Sorry but Unions have become unnecessary. There is enough regulation and laws now to protect the American worker. They serve no function anymore except bullying people who don’t agree with whatever their cause or candidate is at the time. All unions should be abolished.

it’s the big union bosses at the top that are the real corrupt iceholes. they want what they consider to be "the best" for themselves and the union members, and absolutely everything else in the world is of no consequence.

I was a union member. That stopped in ’94.Life been less than expected though.I know that unions
are vital part of history and bettering a working mans pay. There are times thou when unions get a government contract things get less than what most would believe. There is rivalries that cause sabotage and greedy crooks steal money from the unions. This causes overruns and less contracts.
Are they better being around,I don’t know.

National policies on a safe working environment, equal pay, protections involving racial, sexual, or life style choice, handicap accessibility have made unions obsolete.

I will NEVER pay a group to speak for me when I am perfectly able to speak for myself.

Unions are key players ( along with a long list of others) in our countries current economic crisis.

The bedrock principle of the Republican party has always been pro business (anti union), and on all the other issues the parties switch sides from time to time.

unions (and fed gov’t taxation/ultra ecological pollution standards) have driven many US companies overseas to…..China,Taiwan, Korea, etc…
The unions have become way to powerful, and are just part of the reason for the economic cesspool we are in now.
