  • The USA and Human Rights?

Posted by admin on December 9th, 2009 and filed under economic livelihood | 11 Comments »

Why can the USA sign the Declaration of Human Rights, then violate it and even fight unjust wars with it as a reason and still get away with their crimes?

    Article 3:
Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.
    Article 5:
No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
    Article 7:
All are equal before the law and are entitled without any discrimination to equal protection of the law. All are entitled to equal protection against any discrimination in violation of this Declaration and against any incitement to such discrimination.
    Article 18:
Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
    Article 22:
Everyone, as a member of society, has the right to social security and is entitled to realization, through national effort and international co-operation and in accordance with the organization and resources of each State, of the economic, social and cultural rights indispensable for his dignity and the free development of his personality.
    Article 25:
Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control.

I’m pretty sure every country in the world breaks those rules at some level but you just don’t hear about it. If you look hard enough though I’m sure you will find numerous accounts of them, but of course you won’t since this question was nothing more than just another anti-American rant.

Because America is a member of the UN Security Council, America has the largest and strongest economy in the world, and America has several thousand nuclear weapons.
I.e. The USA can do whatever the hell it wants to do (and it did, under Bush) without any fear of international political ramifications. The world relies upon and fears the United States. Or at least, it did. Under Bush.

The US government is corrupt. Those who control us don’t want the best for us, they want the best for their global agenda. Notice how obama said he was going to bring the troops home. Now he is sending more and more to Afghanistan. He is very similar to bush. Both left and right are really the same political party. They just pretend to dislike each other to keep out the people who really want to change things for the better. Bush = Obama = Big business puppet. I hope we americans wake up to this before its too late.

Probably around 3/4 of the world population lives in TRUE poverty and under oppressive leadership- I would put more effort on helping them than in falsely claiming the US to be the evil empire of the world

Because when it comes down to it, all governments are corrupt, it is impossible to find one out there that isn’t because when humans get a hold of power, it warps them, and twists thier sense of morality and honor. So in the end, its all about which government is the least corrupt and even though the US isn’t the least corrupted, it isn’t the most corrupt government out thier either. There are many places in the world where you wouldn’t even be able to post this question about that government, so just be glad that it isn’t worse and hope that it gets better.
